UNIROYAL TIRE AND Discount Tire Centers KICK OFF SUPPORT

FOR AYSO DOWNEY REGION 24

Downey, calif. – ( September 6, 2006) – Uniroyal Tire and Discount Tire Centers are teaming up this season to provide AYSO Downey Region 24 with new soccer balls and funds. The donation is all part of a continuing commitment by Uniroyal and its key dealers to support youth soccer leagues across the nation. 

Players from AYSO Downey Region 24 will receive a certificate redeemable for a free soccer ball at Discount Tire Centers beginning September 1 (while supplies last). In addition, Uniroyal and Discount Tire Centers will present the league with a cash donation of $2 for every Uniroyal^® tire sold to the general public from September 1 to September 30.

Uniroyal Tire is now in its seventh year as a major sponsor of youth soccer. Since the program launch in 2000, Uniroyal and its tire dealers have donated more than $9 million in funds and equipment, including a total of 657,500 free soccer balls. 

 “We are thrilled to play a part in fostering the growth of youth soccer. It’s a game that can be enjoyed by kids of all ages and abilities and involves the entire family,” said Kaz Holley, Uniroyal Tire brand marketing director.  “The Uniroyal program is national in scope but implemented at the local level, so having solid support from dealers like Discount Tire Centers is very important.”

An exciting addition to this year’s program is the “Win a Free Soccer Season Sweepstakes.” One lucky winner will receive free soccer registration, a full set of tires, gas for four months and automotive services at the winner’s participating tire location for the 2007 soccer season. The winner’s soccer league will also receive $1,000 from Uniroyal to put toward field equipment, scholarships and other items as chosen by the league. Plus, each month from August to November, a first prize winner will be selected to receive free gas for the soccer season. To enter the sweepstakes, any parent (ages 18 and older) can log on to www.uniroyal.com/sweeps or click on the sweepstakes banner on their participating soccer league’s Web site between August 1 and November 30.
