24th Annual Downey Memorial Open Cup
AYSO Region 24 is proud to invite your team to the 24th Annual Downey Memorial Open Cup Tournament. It is an AYSO Open Invitational – open to AYSO teams from all Sections and Non AYSO Teams. The tournament will take place on Saturday & Sunday June 23rd & 24th, 2012.
Team entry applications and all necessary forms are available on the tournament website.

Heads Up Online Training Course
Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports is a free, online course available to coaches, parents, and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion. It features interviews with leading experts, dynamic graphics and interactive exercises, and compelling storytelling to help you recognize a concussion and know how to respond if you think that your athlete might have a concussion. Once you complete the training and quiz, you can print out a certificate, making it easy to show your league or school you are ready for the season.

Coaches when you have completed the training, please forward your certificate to Karen Mihara at the National Office; she will update your certificates on eAYSO to show completion. KarenMihara@ayso.org
In addition, please print your certificate and bring to our annual Coaches meeting for a surprise gift.

Region 24 wants to provide you with the opportunity to get involved and see what being a coach or referee is all about.
We are currently seeking canditates to participate in the upcoming fall soccer season. Every year Region 24 looks to add recruits to our program. We provide young men and women the chance to become part of a group that takes pride in the mentorship and development of young people both on and off the field.

Attention all Volunteers
AYSO National has requested that ALL volunteers need to register through their website at www.eayso.org.
Safe Haven is a mandatory course that all volunteers must take if you are working with youth. This includes Coaches and Assistants, Referees and Team Managers. If you didn't get this training in formal classroom instruction, here is your chance to take it now. You will need your volunteer ID from www.eayso.org then click here to take the course at aysotraining.org.
Practice Locations
Coaches, not every park or school in Downey is an eligible practice site. Our permits only cover the following sites listed under Fields. Do not practice at any other park or school. You will not be covered under our insurance and you will be asked to leave. Also please adhere to the division restrictions. This is to spread practices out so we don't overrun a single site.
Available Board Positions
We are looking to fill a couple key positions on our regional soccer board. If you are interested in helping bring a quality program to our youth, please click here for more information on the following positions. Participation at the Board level counts towards your mandatory volunteer hours.
